Private James Gilroy

Private James Gilroy, 12th/13th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action, aged 25, in France on 8th September, 1918 during the “Advance to Victory” and is buried in France in the Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy, Somme, France. He had been born in Maxton, Roxburghshire and was the son of Janet Gilroy and the stepson of Peter Weatherburn of Maxton and he had enlisted in Newcastle.
