Sergeant James Brown

Sergeant James Logan Brown, 54th Battalion ( Kootenay ), Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 9th April 1917, aged 30 during the successful storming of Vimy Ridge  by the Canadian Corps. He was the son of William and Hannah Brown of Kelso and the brother of Helen Brown of 8 Dunstan Court, Westminster Avenue, Winnipeg, Ontario and is buried in Canadian Cemetery No. 2 Neuville St. Vaast., Pas de Calais, France. The photograph shows the victorious troops astride the Ridge after its capture.
