Private James Boyle

Private James Boyle, 7th/8th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in France on 24th January 1917, aged 28. He was the son of John and Margaret Boyle of Roxburgh Newton, Kelso and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. At that time the Battalion were holding front line trenches in the Le Sars sector and suffered on average daily casualties of 3-4 soldiers. The Battalion were part of the 15th (Scottish) Division.
