Second Lieutenant Edward Roger

Second Lieutenant Edward James Pringle Roger, 49th Division Train, Army Service Corps. He died in France on 19th July 1918, aged 39 , of wounds received on active service. He was the son of George and Mary Roger of  Old Machar, Aberdeenshire and is buried in Mendinghem Military Cemetery, West Flanders, Belgium. He and his brother had been joint tenants of Manorhill farm, Makerstoun, Kelso and both had enlisted in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Both were then commissioned into the A,S.C in October 1917. His Headstone is inscribed ” He Lived For Others He For Others Died”. ( His brother survived the War ).
