Private Adam Wilson

Private Adam W. Wilson, 9th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. He died i the 36th Casualty Clearing Station at Haringhe Belgium on 26th April 1918, aged 25, of wounds received in action during the German Spring Offensive on the River Lys. He had been living in Kelso when he enlisted in the 11th(Service) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was the brother of Mrs Janet Clark of Jardine Hall, Lockerbie and is buried in Haringhe ( Bandaghem ) Melitary Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium.  The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk1  water cooled gun in both defensive and offensive roles. The photograph shows gunners during the fighting.
