Leading Aircraftman 1st Class Richard Dodds

Leading Aircraftman 1st Class Richard Dodds, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on Active Service, aged 29, whilst a prisoner of the Japanese on 26th May 1942 having been captured at the fall of Singapore in February 1942. He had been born in North Berwick and was the son of Richard and Margaret Dodds of Reston and the husband of Helen Dodds of Tweed Street, Berwick upon on Tweed and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial. Before enlisting he had been employed as a carpenter in Reston and then the Tweed Saw Mills in Tweedmouth.
