Private Henry Hunter

Private Henry Wilson Hunter, 1st/4th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in Palestine, aged 22, on 15th December 1917 of wounds received in the fighting of 28th November in the Judean Hills, Palestine. He is commemorated on the Jerusalem Memorial.  He had been born in Reston and was the son of William and the late Margaret Hunter of Crumstane, Edrom.  Before enlisting he had been employed at the Haughhead farm, Reston. His twin brother David had been killed at Gallipoli on the 12th July 1915 during the ” Charge ” (He is also commemorated on the Edrom War Memorial).  His twin brother David also fell – see above. The photographs show the Borderers in Palestine in late 1917.
