Private John Weatherston

Private John Weatherstone, 10th ( Territorial ) Battalion Royal Fusiliers ( City of London Regiment ). He was killed in action in France on 14th September 1918 during “The Advance to Victory” aged 28. He was the son of Elizabeth and the late Thomas Weatherstone of “Glen View”, Horncliffe and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France. He had originally enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers in Ashington and been transferred into the Royal Fusiliers. The photographs show Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
