Stoker 1st Class Thomas Walker

Stoker 1st Class Thomas Walker, Royal Navy. He was lost at sea aboard H.M.S. “Hood” on 24th May 1941, aged 26. He was the son of Thomas and lily Walker and the husband of Agnes Addison Walker and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. “Hood”was the last Battlecruiser to be built and was commissioned in 1920. She was lost in the Battle of the Denmark Strait in action against the German battleship Bismarck with the loss of all but three of her crew when her magazines blew up.  Bismarck herself was trapped after an epic chase and eventually sunk by the battleship H.M.S. Rodney. The  photo shows the “Hood”  in 1940.
