Private, John Anderson

Private John Anderson, 1st Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He died of wounds in France, aged 32, in the 9th General Hospital, Rouen on 13th April 1918 during the German Spring Offensive on the River Lys  and is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. He had been born in Polwarth, Berwickshire and was the son of John and Agnes Anderson of Slegden, Greenlaw. He had enlisted in Dublin. The photographs show Allied troops in defensive positions preparing to resist the advancing Germans. His brother Adam also fell – see above).
