Private, Archibald Craig

Private Archibald Craig, 6th ( Service ) Battalion ,Royal Scots Fusiliers. He was killed in France on 8th September 1915 whilst the Battalion was holding the line in the La Bassee sector, aged 23. He had been born in Whitsome, Berwickshire and was the son of Margaret Tait  ( ex Craig ) of Middlethird , Gordon and is commemorated on the Le Touret  Memorial, France. He served as batman to Lieutenant Viscount Andrew John Stuart who wrote to his mother shortly before he himself was killed in action on the 25th September during the Battle of Loos.
