Private Thomas Scott

Private Thomas Scott, 6th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Flanders on 18th August 1918, aged 24 during the ” Advance to Victory” and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium. He had been born in Greenlaw and was the son of Thomas and Jane Scott of Easter Printonan and Gavinton.  His brother John also fell – see above. He fell in the successful assault on the German strongpoint of Hoegenacker Mill. The cost was 25 killed and 139 wounded. The photos show Allied troops advancing during the final 100 days of the War.
