Captain Sydney Joicey

Captain and Adjutant, The Hon.Sydney James Drever Joicey, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 20th March 1916 aged 31. He was the third son of  James Joicey, 1st Baron Joicey of Ford Castle, Ford, Berwick-Upon-Tweed and is buried in Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension, France. He had been educated at Harrow and Eton before going up to Trinity College, Cambridge where he graduated M.A. He went to work as a colliery manager, an Industry in which his father had many interests. His Headstone is inscribed ” Greater Love Hath No Man That He lay Down His Life For His Country”.
