Private James Blain

Private James Blain, 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died at Gallipoli on 21st June 1915 and is buried in Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey. At this time the Battalion was in bivouac on the beach at Cape Helles but still suffered from wasting casualties and had 4 killed and 4 wounded from random Turkish shellfire. He had been born in Glasgow and had enlisted there as a Regular soldier. The Battalion was part of the 29th Division which had been made up from Regular Infantry Battalions.
