Trooper George Hoare

Trooper George Edward Hoare, 110th ( 5th Battalion, The Border Regiment ) Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps. He was killed in action on 27th October 1942 during the Battle of El Alamein aged 29. He was the son of Alfred and Annie Hoare and the husband of Helen H. Hoare of Cornhill on Tweed and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Alamein, Egypt. The Unit was equipped with the Churchill tank and the picture shows one on display in the Imperial War Museum.
