Lieutenant David Joicey

Lieutenant, The Hon. David Hugh Joicey, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He died  on 25th September 1943 from wounds received at Salerno aged 21. He had been born in Chelsea and was the son of Col. Hugh Edward Joicey, D.S.O., J.P.,3rd Baron Joicey and Lady Joan Joicey ( nee Lambton ) of Etal Manor and is buried in Salerno War Cemetery, Italy. His Headstone is inscribed ” Into The Sunshine Of God’s Love”. He was educated at Eton and went up to Christ Church for a year before going to Sandhurst. He was gazetted Second Lieutenant on 20th November 1941 into the 3rd Battalion. 3rd Coldstream Guards were part of 201st Guards Brigade together with 6th Grenadier and 2nd Scots Guards.
