Flight Sergeant Edward Williams

Flight Sergeant Edward John Stacy Williams, Royal Australian Air Force. He was killed in a flying accident on 19th September 1943 aged 31. He was the son of William Tyrell and Nellie Salage Williams and the husband of Violet Williams of Branksome Park, Bournemouth. He was navigator in a Bristol Beaufighter which was on a night flight from Winfield aerodrome when the pilot, Flight Sergeant McGrath, reported an engine fire at 10,000 feet. He then reported they were baling out. This never happened and the crashed aircraft containing both bodies was found near Hardens Farm near Duns, Berwickshire.  He is buried in Fogo Churchyard where his Headstone is inscribed ” Unforgotten He Died That We Might Live “.
