Petty Officer Airman Arthur Archibald

Petty Officer Airman Arthur Herbert Percy Archibald, Royal New Zealand Navy. He was killed in an accident ,flying out of R.A.F. Charterhall near Fogo, Berwickshire on 19th July 1943 aged 23. His Home Base was H.M.S. “Daedalus” which was a Naval Air Station base in Lee on Solent.  He was the son of Percy Stanley and Ada Archibald of Epsom, Auckland, New Zealand. ( His name is not on the Fogo War Memorial ). He had been flying a Fleet Air Arm Fairey Barracuda up from Royal Naval Air Station, Worthy Down, Hampshire when it crashed at Charterhall after engine failure.
