Private William Lough

Lance Corporal William Waddell Lough, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of wounds in Egypt in the 45th Stationary Hospital, Kantara, Egypt on 2nd December 1917, aged 21. He had been born in Eyemouth and was the son of John and Jane Ritchie Lough of Chapel Terrace, Eyemouth and is buried in Kantara War Cemetery, Kantara, Egypt. He was wounded in the same attack at El Mughar on 13th November in which Lieutenants Robertson, Wood and Corporal Craig were killed. Before enlisting he had been employed as vanman with fishcurer Mr William Robertson of Eyemouth. His Headstone is inscribed ” Asleep In Jesus ).
