Sergeant William Dunlop

Sergeant William Dunlop, 2nd/5th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service on 2nd October 1917 aged 32. He was born at Gordon  the son of William and Isabella Dunlop of Chesser Grove ,Edinburgh and is buried in Duns Churchyard, Duns ,Berwickshire. Before enlisting he had been employed as a timekeeper at the Chirnside Paper Mill, Edrom.  In July 1917 his Battalion was at the Curragh, Ireland and it was here he contracted pneumonia and died in the camp’s Military Hospital.
