Private William Douglas, 2nd Battalion, Black Watch. He died on Active service in Mesopotamia, aged 20, on the 14th December 1917. He had been born in Southdean, Roxburghshire and was the son of Tom and Agnes Douglas of Chesters, Southdean. when he enlisted he was working as a gamekeeper at Blackadder Mount, Edrom In Mesopotamia he contracted malaria and died in the 31st Stationary hospital, Baghdad. He is buried in Baghdad ( North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq.
