Lance Corporal Archibald Wightman

Lance Corporal Archibald Wightman, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Gordon Highlanders.  He had been born in Cranshaws and was the son of  William and the late Elizabeth of Kimmerghame Mains, Edrom.He was killed in action in Belgium, aged 24, on 28th June 1916 and is buried in the Menin Road South Military Cemetery Ypres, Belgium. Before enlisting in November 1914 he had been employed in Duns as a vanman He  had been wounded in July 1915 and again in October 1916 returning to his Battalion in April 1917.
