Private Robert Patterson

Private Robert Patterson, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Black Watch. He was killed in action in Salonica on 9th May 1917, aged 35. He was the son of James and Anne Patterson of Ednam and the husband of Elizabeth Niven Patterson of Orchard Cottage , Kelso. He fell in one of the attacks on Bulgarian positions in the Petite-Couronne and is commemorated on the Doiran Memorial, Macedonia, Greece. Before enlisting he had been employed as a hallman at Floors Castle, Kelso. The photograph shows some of the 10th Black Watch at Salonica.
