Private William Black

Private William Piercy Black, 9th ( Service ) Battalion ,Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was killed in action on 21st March 1918 on the first day of the German March Offensive aged 23. He was the son of Henry and Margaret Black of Duddo Farm, Berwick upon Tweed and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France. The photographs show Allied troops preparing to resist the oncoming Germans.
