Company Sergeant Major William Wilkie

Company Sergeant Major William Wilkie, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died at Home on 10th January 1916, aged 46 and is buried in Earlston Churchyard. He had joined the old “F” Coy. Berwickshire Volunteers, aged 17, and had transferred to the new Territorial Force in 1908. He was a keen Freemason and was a member of Melrose No.1 Cis before transferring to the new Ercildoune Lodge in 1913. He was given a full Masonic funeral.
