Private Archibald Black

Private Archibald Black,  2nd Battalion,  Kings Own Scottish Borderers, attached to the 280th Area Employment Coy. Labour Corps.  He died on Active Service in France, aged 20, on 24th October 1918 and is buried in Awoingt British Cemetery, Cambrai, France. He had been born in Earlston and was the son of Archibald and Alice Black of  Earlston Railway Station and died from pneumonia in a Casualty Clearing Station. The photos show Allied troops advancing after the retreating German Army during the ” Advance to Victory” in the final months of the War.
