Aircraftsman 1st Class Peter Patterson

Aircraftsman 1st Class Peter Lindsay Patterson, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on Active Service in North Africa  on 26th July 1942 aged 22. He had been born in Duns and was the son of Peter and Margaret A. Patterson of 7 Market Square, Duns and is buried in El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt. His Headstone is inscribed ” Dearly Beloved Son of P. And M. A. Patterson , Duns, Berwick, Scotland. “Asleep In Jesus”. He had been educated at the Berwickshire High School and was working in a local bank when he enlisted. He was posted to the Middle East and was killed in an air raid near El Alamein.
