Trooper Francis Wilkinson

Trooper Francis David Wilkinson, 12th Royal Lancers, Royal Armoured Corps. He was killed in action in Tunisia on 26th April 1943, aged 23. He had been born in Coldingham and was the son of John and the late Francis Wilkinson of Manderson, Duns and is buried in Medjez-El-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia. His Headstone is inscribed ” To Memory Ever Dear”. The Regiment was equipped with the Humber Armoured Car and was usually used in an armoured reconnaissance role.
