Rifleman Robert Scott

Rifleman Robert Porteous Scott, 4th Battalion, 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade. He was killed  in France on 23rd February 1917, aged 29. He was the son of Walter and Helen Scott of ” Craigview “, Denholm and is buried in Berks Cemetery Extension.. Hainault, Belgium. He had served in the Commercial Bank Hawick office after which he engaged in farming before emigrating to New Zealand in 1911 where he was employed as a farmhand at Nukumaru, North Island before enlisting in May 1916. He arrived at the Front at the end of 1916. He was known as a crack shot in the Minto and Denholm Miniature rifle Club and was a member of Denholm Golf Club.
