Sergeant David Straiton

Sergeant David Michie Straiton, 1st Derbyshire Yeomanry, Royal Armoured Corps.  He was killed in action in in Italy on 16th May 1944 during the Battle of Monte Cassino aged 37. He was the son of David and Christine Campbell and the husband of Lilian Winifred Campbell of Melton Mowbray.  He is buried in Cassino War Cemetery, Cassino, Italy. His Regiment was the reconnaissance Regiment of the 6th Armoured Division and was equipped with the Sherman tank
