Rifleman John Ferguson

Rifleman John Ferguson,  2nd Battalion, Cameronians. He died on 1st June 1940 of wounds received during the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from  Dunkirk aged 18. The Battalion had been involved in heavy fighting before being evacuated. He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of George and Elizabeth Ferguson of 25 Leet Street, Coldstream, the brother of Andy Ferguson who lived in Coldstream and uncle of Ann and Graham Ferguson who have retained his father’s house in Victoria Place. He is buried in St Lawrence Cemetery , Ramsgate. Before the War he had been employed by Mr Walker who had a bakers shop in Market Square, Coldstream.
