Trooper Adam Scott

Trooper Adam Scott, ” A “Squadron,  Lothian and Borders Horse. “A” Squadron  was based in Dunbar with detachments at Earlston, Greenlaw, North Berwick, Musselburgh, Lauder, Kelso, Berwick, Haddinghton, Tranent , East Linton, Duns and Coldstream. ( There is no Adam Scott listed under the Lothian and Border Horse but there is the following entry for an Adam Scott who enlisted in Coldstream ). Sapper Adam Scott, 56th Field Coy. Royal Engineers. He was killed in Flanders on 22nd May 1916, aged 29. He had been born at Mindrum  was the son of William and Rachel Scott of Mindrum, Cornhill-on-Tweed and 5 Duke Street, Coldstream. He is buried in Wytschaete Military Cemetery, Wytschaete, Flanders, Belgium where his Headstone is inscribed ” Father In Thy Gracious Keeping We Now Leave Our Dear One Sleeping “. He was resident at Mindrum and was employed as a engineer when he had enlisted in Coldstream. It is probable that he had enlisted in the Lothian and Border Horse and had been transferred into the Royal Engineers.
