Captain John Scott

Captain John Henry Marshall Scott ,Royal Army Medical Corps. He died in Coldstream, aged 36, on 24th March 1919 and is buried in Lennel Churchyard, Coldstream. He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of Robert and Jane Scott of Post Office House, Victoria Street, Coldstream. He was the husband of May Wright Scott of 68 St Leonard’s Road, Ayr whom he married in Ayr in 1915. He was a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and was practicing as a dental surgeon in Ayr when he was commissioned as a Lieutenant and Dental Officer in April 1916. he was attached to the R.A.M.C in Salonica and served there for two years. being promoted Captain in April 1917. He had returned to the U,K. and was visiting his parents in Coldstream when died from pneumonia during the ” Spanish Flu ” epidemic.
