Private David Whyte

Private David Whyte, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in France, aged 20, on the 28th September 1915 during the Battle of Loos. He had been born in Coldingham and was the son of Robert and Helen Whyte of Market Place, Coldingham. Before enlisting in November 1914 he had been employed with the Caledonian Railway Company in their Goods Depot in Edinburgh. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. The photo shows the Camerons in the attack at Loos.
