Deckhand George Lugton

Deckhand George Crow Lugton, Royal Navy. He died on Active Service at H.M.S. “Boadicea 11 ” on 10th October 1918, aged 32. He had been born in Edinburgh and was the son of John and Elizabeth Lugton of  Cove, Cockburnspath and 14 Custom House Square, Dunbar and is buried in Deans Grange Cemetery, Dublin. H.M.S. “Boadicea 11” was a shore establishment base at Kingston, Ireland between 1915-1919 and used as a base for Armed Patrol Trawlers. He died from influenza and pneumonia. At that time the “Spanish Flu ” epidemic was sweeping the World and took many more lives than the War.
