Lance Corporal Douglas Lauder, 1st Battalion, Scots Guards. He was killed in action in Italy on 23rd June 1944, aged 24. He was the son of John and Grace Lauder of Preston, Duns and is buried in Bolsena War Cemetery. The Battalion was a Unit in the 6th South African Armoured Division and took part in many fierce engagements including a battle with the Herman Goering Division near Bolsena.
