Private Walter Galbraith

Private Walter Galbraith, ( possibly )1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on 19th April 1917 of wounds received in action on 17th April in Palestine and is buried in Gaza Cemetery, Gaza, Palestine. He was wounded during the Second Battle of Gaza in the attack on “Outpost Hill” where 6 Officers and 43 Other Ranks were killed and 9 Officers and 155 Other Ranks were wounded. Captain David Elder of Coldstream was wounded for the second time in this action . ( Private Galbraith is not on either the Birgham or Eccles War Memorials ). The photographs show the Borderers in Palestine in 1917.
