Private Samuel Dixon, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 5th July 1916, aged 30, during the Battle of the Somme. He was the brother of Mrs Heston of 18 Leis Road, Berwick and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He had been born in Berwick and had enlisted in the Town. The photographs show troops on the Somme during the Battle.
