Private Robert Winter

Private Robert Winter, 1st/5th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action against the Turks in Palestine on 9th November 1917, aged 24. He had been born in Berwick, resided in the Town and was the brother of Mrs Mary Hood of 4 Longstone View, Berwick and is buried in Deir El Belah War Cemetery, Palestine. His Headstone is inscribed ” Thy Will Be Done”. From April 1915 till June 1918 the Battalion was part of the 157th ( Highland Light Infantry ) Brigade in the 52nd Lowland Division.
