Private Michael Beveridge

Private Michael Beveridge, 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own). He was killed in action in France of 19th April, 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He was the third son of the late John Beveridge, Contractor, Spittal. Before the War he was employed by Messrs. Hawley & Co., Contractors, Newcastle upon Tyne. The first photograph shows British troops accompanied by a tank in a captured village near Arras and the second shows troops moving forward to the front line.
