Private James Anderson

Private James Anderson, 14th Battalion ( Fife and Forfar Yeomanry ), Black Watch. He was killed in action in Palestine on 6th November 1917, aged 20. He was the son of Mr and Mrs R. Anderson of 39 West End, Tweedmouth and is buried in Beersheba War Cemetery, Israel. He fell in the successful assault on the Turkish positions at Sheria where many Turks and materiel were captured . Casualties were 3 Officers and 60 Other Ranks killed and 5 Officers and 182 Other Ranks wounded. ( The second photograph shows him in his Yeomanry uniform ).
