Private David Flannigan

Private David Flannigan, 7th/8th ( Service ) Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action on 23rd July, 1918 during the assault on the village of Buzancy by the 15th(Scottish) Division. He is buried in the Buzancy Military Cemetery in France.  In the face of  intense machine gun fire and an ineffectual barrage the attack did not progress and heavy casualties resulted.  4 Officers and 95 Other Ranks were killed and 7 Officers and 214 Other Ranks were wounded. He had been born in Berwick and had enlisted at the Depot in the Town.
