Private Arthur Purdom

Private Arthur Purdom, 2nd Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. He died in France on 13th September 1918, aged 19, of wounds received in action during the “Advance to Victory”. He was the son of Robert and Emma Purdom of ” Blinkbonny “, Tudor Hill, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and is buried in Sunken Road Cemetery, Boisleux-St. Marc, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Yea Thou Shalt Be Steadfast. He Is Not Slain When The Body Is Slaughtered”. The photographs show the Allied troops pressing after the retreating German Army during the last 100 days of the War.
