Private William Hall

Private William Hall, 28th Battalion, Australian Infantry. He was killed in action in Belgium on 20th September 1917, aged 37, during the Battle of Third Ypres. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Hall and was a native of Bamburgh. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. The photographs show the desolate nature of the Flanders battlefield where the incessant shelling had destroyed the drainage systems.
