Private George Thompson

Private George Lyall Thompson, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 3rd May 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. He had been born at West Barton, Belford and had originally enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery. This was a ” Pals ” Battalion and were known as the ” Hull Tradesmen “. The photographs shows British troops during the Battle.
