Lieutenant William Thomson

Lieutenant William Thomson, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in France on 26th August 1918, aged 39, of wounds received in the attack on Henin Hill on 23rd August. He was the only son of Mrs I.M. Thomson and the late Alex of Summerhill, Ayton and is buried in Bagneux British Cemetery, Gezaincourt, France. Before enlisting he had worked with the Royal Bank in Ayton. The photographs show troops during ” The Advance to Victory” in the final 100 days of the War. His Headstone is inscribed ” A Perfect Son”.
