Leading Aircraftman William Haig Trotter Swanston, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died in the Far East on 24th December 1944. He was the son of John and Margaret Swanston of Ayton and the husband of Margaret Swanston of Burnmouth and is buried in Ambon War Cemetery, Indonesia. ( It is possible he died as a prisoner of war of the Japanese. )
