Private William Proudlock

Private William Proudlock, Royal Scots ( Depot ). He died at Home on 23rd July 1916, aged 22, as a result of wounds suffered in action during the Battle of the Somme. He was the son of Robert Proudlock of 24 Main Road, Tweedmouth and is buried in Ayton Parish Churchyard, Ayton, Berwickshire. After he had been wounded he had lain the a trench for two days before being rescued and taken down the line to a casualty clearing station. ( Private Proudlock’s name is not on the Memorial but as he is buried in Ayton we thought he was worthy of inclusion ).
