Private James Kennedy, 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters ( Notts and Derby Regiment ). He was killed in France on 30th January 1915, aged 30. He was the son of Thomas and Catherine Kennedy of Ancrum and is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France. He had been born in Earlston and was the son of Thomas and Catherine Kennedy of Ancrum. (His father was the Inspector of Poor at Ancrum.) His brother Norman also fell ( see above ).
