Private James Easton

Private James Easton, 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots. He died from wounds in Belgium, aged 22, on 17th March 1916 and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. At that time the Battalion were holding trenches in the St Eloi sector of the Ypres Salient and suffered sporadic casualties from artillery fire and sniping. He had been born in Hume, Berwickshire but was residing in Ancrum and working as a farm servant at Rawflat, Ancrum when he enlisted in December 1914. He died in the 10th Casualty Clearing station at Lijssenhoek.  He had been born in Hume, Berwickshire and was the son of Walter and Mary Easton of Rawflat, Ancrum and Haymount, Makerstoun, Kelso.
